What is Yoga Alliance Professionals doing to protect your information and prepare for Data Protection Changes (GDPR)
We all need to take steps to become compliant with the upcoming General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). If you have missed our previous updates, then read them here – What is Changing? and What to do as a Yoga Teacher.
The changes take place at the end of May 2018 and effect all businesses who trade within the EU.
Yoga Alliance Professionals prioritises member trust. We know that your personal data is important to your values and operations. That is why we keep it private and safe.
We support over 7000 members in 50 plus countries. Our members entrust us with their personal information and we have invested in a state of the art system to keep this safe. Your profile passwords and credit card details are encrypted on our system so our team cannot see them. We will never ask for any details which are unnecessary.
The information which we hold about our members has been gathered during the original application sign up and we feel the information we hold is necessary for us to work together in partnership. We will never use your data for profiling purposes or pass any information on to a third party. The only exception to this is; we will pass contact details on to Balens Ltd for members who have the Yoga Alliance Professionals Master Insurance Policy. Balens Ltd are themselves working on becoming GDPR compliant.
We are in the process of reviewing our own procedures, privacy notice and terms and conditions to ensure they all take into account the changes which the GDPR brings. Once these are updated we will reissue these via email. We will also be training our teams so they are aware of the changes.
We have already taken a step back from emailing out to our members as we are conscious that in today’s world we are all bombarded with information. You will only receive emails which are pertinent to your membership and other useful information which we think is relevant to your membership and/or yoga teaching. We try to limit the number of emails we send. Be aware that if you unsubscribe to our emails that this will stop ALL emails and will mean you will no longer receive renewal reminders. We are using social media, blogs and members area on our website to make announcements and keep you up to date with any changes you need to be aware of.
